Your Insider Guide to the 2025 Mediterranean Yacht Show

The Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS) has firmly established itself as the most important luxury charter show in the East Mediterranean, attracting a discerning international audience of brokers, press and professionals. Set against the backdrop of Nafplion’s historic port, the 2025 edition promises another unrivalled showcase of premium charter yachts and a curated programme of industry-led events. Here’s your essential insider guide to navigating the show with style and purpose.

Dates:
Saturday 4 May – Wednesday 7 May 2025

Location:
Port of Nafplion, Greece

An elegant neoclassical town located just two hours southwest of Athens, Nafplion is steeped in history and offers an idyllic setting for MEDYS. The harbour – framed by the 15th-century Bourtzi fortress and the Palamidi castle high above – provides a dramatic stage for the Mediterranean’s most distinguished charter fleet.

Now in its ninth edition, the show is organised by the Greek Yachting Association (GYA) and continues to serve as a strategic platform to promote Greece and the wider Eastern Mediterranean as a premier charter destination.

What to expect

The charter fleet

The core of the show remains its impressive line-up of luxury crewed charter yachts – both motor and sailing – ranging from 24 to over 85 metres. Guests can expect to tour over 90 vessels, each presented in turnkey condition and crewed by seasoned professionals. The show offers a rare opportunity for brokers to meet crews, sample onboard cuisine and experience the atmosphere that defines each yacht’s charter experience.

Notable yachts are typically announced closer to the date, but previous editions have featured standout names from the fleets of O’Pari, Chakra, Capri I and Baracuda Valletta.

Broker and media familiarisation

MEDYS is a trade-only event, designed to support charter professionals with insight, education and relationship-building. Beyond the yacht tours, participants can attend familiarisation events that highlight emerging destinations and local charter legislation – especially relevant in Greece, which has seen a notable uptick in activity post-2020.

Crew competitions and culinary showcases

A signature element of MEDYS is the Chef’s Competition, which sees onboard chefs craft creative dishes based on a central theme revealed shortly before the event. Judged by a panel of food and hospitality professionals, the contest is a crowd favourite and reinforces the emphasis on excellence in service and gastronomy. A Tablescaping Competition also takes place, spotlighting the creative flair of stews and interior teams.

Evening events and networking

Evenings are reserved for dockside cocktails, private yacht receptions and the show’s official social calendar. The Opening Reception hosted by the GYA typically takes place on the evening of 4 May, with subsequent nights offering a mix of formal and informal gatherings, often hosted by leading management firms and local sponsors.

Insider tips

  • Stay local: For convenience, base yourself in Nafplion’s Old Town. Boutique hotels such as 3Sixty or Nafplia Palace offer luxury within walking distance of the harbour.

  • Arrive early: Athens International Airport (ATH) is the nearest hub. From there, Nafplion is a two-hour drive – best arranged with a private transfer.

  • Schedule smartly: Yacht viewings are often arranged in advance, reach out to brokers early to ensure you are able to visit yachts.

  • Dress code: Business smart during the day; evening events range from cocktail attire to formal, depending on the host.
