CHARTER MARKET

How can charter managers create a demand for their CA charter yachts in the post-COVID market?

In the years following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, the industry noted a boom in superyacht charter bookings. In the 2021/22 charter market, this increase was largely a result of cancelled and delayed charters rolling over from 2020 when the world was vastly locked down and travel opportunities were limited.

Though 2023/24 charter markets have naturally slowed since the initial post-COVID boom, there is still an undeniable demand for all kinds of yacht charter holidays. But how can charter managers and charter brokers ensure that their CA yachts stand out from the crowd?

Ensure you are covering the right destinations

While the demand for off-the-beaten-path charters grows and the industry witnesses charter vessels cruising in the far corners of the globe, traditional yachting hotspots such as the Mediterranean and the Caribbean remain in high demand.

Many of the world’s most sought-after yachting destinations are so desirable that the more popular charter yachts are quickly snapped up. Ensuring that you are managing a reliable vessel in the hottest yachting destinations will guarantee an influx of bookings.

“There are some cruising areas such as Croatia that could do with a bigger inventory of larger vessels,” explained Burgess Charter Broker, Sophie Spain. “The popular yachts tend to go quickly in these areas, but the overall charter fleet is growing so we feel we can certainly meet the demands of clients.”

Unique and special offerings

In areas where clients have pages of charter yachts to pick from, ensuring the vessels in your fleet/management stand out is important.

Having stand-out water toys, unique design features, or specialised crew onboard ensures that vessels appeal to a wide range of clients and all contribute to elevating guest experience and the overall reputation of the charter yacht.

Promotional offers

With saturated markets, promotional offers, discounts and special incentives are great ways to stand out and attract potential clients.

Common promotional offers include reduced costs on multiple bookings, time or destination-based discounts and flexible cancellation policies.
