Unmissable charter debut: Inside the superyacht turning heads this season
When a yacht as distinctive as Limerence is preparing to enter the charter market, there is a lot to unpack, and even more to experience. At the invitation of the UK brokerage firm Christie Yachts, Superyacht Times team member Syrine Mellakh spent a day onboard the 52.5-metre superyacht to get a first-hand look at what charter guests can expect: a deep dive into the layout, the toys, the cuisine, the crew and above all, the atmosphere.
Our day began in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, where one of Limerence’s three tenders collected us from the port. Even from a distance, Limerence made an impression - her bold profile anchored in the bay, framed by a flotilla of jet skis, inflatables, and SeaBobs already in motion. Stepping aboard, we were met with chilled sparkling water infused with lemon and cold towels – a refreshing touch on such a warm day. The crew greeted us warmly, each with a friendly introduction, and we immediately felt the yacht's relaxed energy. Walking the aft deck, we were impressed by how spacious the layout felt - ideal for entertaining, dancing, or simply soaking in the sun with a cocktail in hand.

Where Toys Meet Tales
Our first stop was the yacht’s toy storage, and it was immediately clear this was not just a yacht compartment, it is a dedicated watersports centre. Unlike many yachts where this would be a crew-only area, Limerence offers guest seating and a large screen where guests can relax and enjoy edited footage of their adventures, created by the crew.
What truly sets Limerence apart, however, is the scale and variety of her water toys. In addition to scuba gear, spearfishing kits, e-foils, and paddleboards, she carries one of the most comprehensive inventories in her class. A floating inflatable park adds to the thrill, with a slide, trapeze swing, climbing wall, gladiator podiums, and a jet ski dock. The yacht also operates as an RYA training centre, allowing guests to earn their Jet Ski license onboard.
For those drawn to underwater exploration, the experience goes even further. The professional-grade dive centre includes full scuba sets for 10 guests, complete with BCs, tanks, masks, fins, wetsuits, and a certified instructor onboard to lead excursions beneath the surface. While a submarine is not currently onboard, Limerence is fully equipped to accommodate one, offering the possibility of deep-sea exploration for future charters.
As we explored the space, the crew began sharing Limerence’s story, one that adds character to her capabilities. Originally conceived as a support vessel named Kaiyo, Japanese for “ocean”, she was reimagined mid-build into a full-fledged superyacht. The result is a rare blend: utility at her core, wrapped in the polish of a high-end charter vessel.

Spacious, Surprising, Sporty
As we toured the yacht, what stood out immediately was her bold decision to host only three guest staterooms, an uncommon choice for a yacht of this size. This was a deliberate choice by the first owner to prioritise spacious and personalised rooms. The suites are vast, almost apartment-like, with warm tones and clean, modern design. The interiors were elegantly decorated by Michael Smith Inc., adding a refined yet welcoming touch, while the yacht’s exterior lines were designed by Azure Yachts. Each room feels personal, luxurious, and open – offering guests a true home-at-sea experience. That said, the yacht has been designed with flexibility in mind, and there is room for a fourth cabin if desired.
On the bridge deck, Limerence boasts a helideck that is fully commercially certified to land, secure and refuel large helicopters such as the Airbus H145 and Bell 429. It can accommodate up to three full refuelling tanks onboard. The helideck doubles as a basketball or pickleball court by day, and a nightclub under the stars by night. The setup was truly impressive, a full basketball court complete with nets on all sides to keep balls from bouncing into the sea. When not in play mode, this space becomes a party zone, with ambient lighting and DJ setups turning it into a nightclub under the stars. It also serves its primary function as a fully certified landing area, making the yacht highly accessible for private transfers, a key benefit for charter guests.
The pizza oven on the bridge deck was one of the day’s highlights. As we settled in for lunch, the chef began preparing a variety of pizzas right in front of us. From classic flavours to more unexpected pairings, the combinations were thoughtful and full of flavour. We ate outside on sun-warmed cushions under umbrellas, with the breeze coming in off the bay. Inside, the main saloon presents a neutral, contemporary atmosphere, while the bridge forward houses the yacht’s advanced navigation systems.
Heading further up, the sundeck was pure bliss: panoramic views, a bar tucked into the structure, lounge beds in every direction, and just enough shade for comfortable lounging. One of the most exciting updates the crew shared was the plan to install a jacuzzi in the foredeck, enhancing the relaxation space even further. From this vantage point, we could look down at the helipad and beach club, with the full layout of toys floating off the stern. Every corner of the yacht had been designed with multi-purpose living in mind, nothing felt wasted or cramped.

Toys, Thrills & a Sail with the Captain
Following the tour, the yacht’s full toy selection was deployed seamlessly throughout the day, with the crew setting up the experience efficiently and smoothly. The offering included jet skis, SeaBobs, e-foils, paddleboards, and additional equipment such as golf setups with biodegradable balls. The experience began with a ride on the jet skis, first as a passenger before taking the handles with a mix of excitement and nerves. Circling the yacht at a safe distance brought a rush of water and wind that captured the thrill of the moment. The SeaBobs were a favourite, gliding just beneath the surface felt like becoming part of the sea.
Later in the afternoon, a small sailboat was rigged with the Croatian captain Vanja, and we took advantage of the strong breeze to set off around the bay. As we sailed, the captain shared stories from his long-standing relationship with the owner, a partnership that has grown over more than 15 years into something built on trust and familiarity. The name Limerence, he said, was never defined, its meaning left deliberately open to interpretation - fitting for a yacht with such enigmatic allure.

Behind the Magic: The Crew
Throughout the experience, the crew was exceptional, a seamless balance of attentiveness and discretion. From drink offerings to one-on-one assistance with every water toy, the crew’s passion and professionalism shone through. What really stood out was how they anticipated our needs before we even voiced them: towels appeared exactly when needed, sunglasses were wiped clean after the use of toys, and cold drinks were always within reach.
Each crew member seemed genuinely excited to share the yacht’s features, taking time to explain how things worked and ensuring every guest felt empowered to try something new. Whether it was guiding someone on Jet Skis, giving pointers for a better golf swing, or sharing personal stories, their enthusiasm was contagious. It didn’t feel like a trial or demo day, it felt like being welcomed onto someone’s personal floating playground, with hosts who were proud to show it off.

Final Thoughts
Limerence presents a rare combination: the capabilities of an explorer-style yacht paired with the comfort and style expected of a high-end charter vessel. Every element onboard, from the certified helideck to the extensive toy selection and personalised service, is designed to support a wide range of guest experiences, from the active and adventurous to the completely relaxed.
What makes Limerence stand out isn’t just her technical features or bold layout decisions, but the way they come together in use. She is a yacht that invites interaction, adapts to the mood of her guests, and encourages time well spent, whether that’s sailing with the captain, jumping from the inflatables, or unwinding on deck as the sun goes down.
Limerence is now available for charter through Caroline Antlett at Christie Yachts, offering a unique opportunity to experience this one-of-a-kind superyacht firsthand. Her charter rate is fixed at €390,000 per week, available year-round with no seasonal variation. In summer 2025, she will cruise the Mediterranean, including France, Monaco, Italy, Croatia, Greece and Turkey, before relocating to the Caribbean, the Bahamas and Central America for the winter 2025/2026 season.
