The best first-time charter destinations in the Mediterranean

The Mediterranean is a time-honoured superyacht cruising ground. Here is a rundown of some of the best first-time charter destinations in the East and West Mediterannean. 🛥

The Dalmatian Coast: Croatia

Recent years have seen Croatia become one of the top trending yachting destinations worldwide.

The country’s reliable and consistently good weather, easy accessibility from all over Europe, and over 2000 islands to explore bagged Croatia the spot as the most popular charter destination in 2022. ☀️

Vanessa Morlot, senior retail charter broker at Camper and Nicholsons, highlighted the country’s variety. “Croatia is a wonderful, diverse cruising area where you may enjoy quiet nights at anchor with your yacht tied to the rocks in crystal-clear water, secluded bays, or enjoy the many historical backdrops.”

“The coastal towns of Dubrovnik, Zadar, Hvar and Trogir (to name a few) are not to be missed,” she continued.

Vanessa Morlot named Croatia as one of her favourite cruising destinations in the Mediterranean. “Croatia’s thousands of of islands, several national parks — Krka, Kornati and Mlejt and its beautiful Benedictine monastery — and UNESCO World Heritage sites offer such a magical experience for cruising and sailing.” ⛵️

Visitors cruising in the Adriatic can marvel at electric blue waters in the mystical cave known as the Blue Grotto of Bisevo, or hike, swim and observe local wildlife in Croatia’s expansive national parks.

The Turquoise Coast: Turkey

Situated on Turkey’s southwestern coast, the Turquoise Coast — or the Turkish Riviera — truly captures the bliss of an East Mediterranean charter getaway and offers first-time charterers a plethora of exquisite facilities. 🌊

The many bays and coves dotted along the south western coast of Turkey make the region an attractive and memorable first-time charter destination.

Guests here can dive into the turquoise bath that is the Aegean, anchoring in secret spots and hidden coves, or comparably, the glorious stretching sands that line the waterfront. 🏖

The mediaeval city of Bodrum is a top destination in the yacht charter world. Bodrum’s character is compiled of its varied history, archaeology, delectable cuisine and nightlife catering to all preferences.

The waterside promenade features restaurants, bars and clubs all offering different themes and adding to the varied social scene of this south western destination.

The Ligurian Riviera: Italy

The crescent-shaped coastline that stretches from the glitzy Cote D’Azur towards Tuscany is Italy’s Ligurian Riviera. 🇮🇹

Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Alps and the Apennine Mountains, Liguria offers visitors an enchanting cruising ground with magnificent views, colourful and picturesque ancient fishing villages and a sophisticated ambience. 🏔

The Ligurian Riviera greets guests with an embrace of tradition, authentic charm and la dolce vita. Cruising the region is a true cultural experience, where visitors can unpack the coastline’s rich maritime and fishing history and relax in the laidback Mediterranean lifestyle. 🌅

The region is home to a long list of popular destinations, such as the UNESCO-protected Cinque Terre, romantic Portofino and the bustling Santa Margherita Ligure.
