Chartering Sabai: immersing yourself in a Bali state-of-mind

Stepping aboard Sabai feels like arriving at an idyllic floating beach house. At 33.85 metres, this tri-deck motor yacht from Cantiere Delle Marche combines robust Italian engineering with a deeply relaxed, Bali-inspired interior concept; a balance that makes her stand out in today’s charter market. Launched in 2019, her interior and exterior design have been completed by Nauta Yachts, bringing together long-range capability and a warm, bohemian feeling that is genuinely tailored to family life at sea.

From the dock, Sabai presents with confident, purposeful lines. Her steel hull and aluminium superstructure speak to the pedigree of a yard renowned for building serious cruising yachts, yet there is nothing austere about her profile. Expansive glazing softens the exterior, drawing natural light deep into the yacht and reinforcing the sense of connection between her interiors and the sea. Wide side decks and generous aft spaces hint at a layout designed for easy movement; an important detail when multiple generations are onboard.

Stepping inside, Sabai’s personality fully reveals itself. The interior departs from the high-gloss formality often associated with yachts of her size, and instead embraces a Bali-style, boho-chic aesthetic that feels incredibly welcoming. Think warm woods, woven finishes, tactile fabrics and a palette of sandy neutrals punctuated by soft, earthy tones. The effect is not thematic but atmospheric: less resort pastiche, more refined island retreat.

Stepping into the main saloon, the space is flooded with daylight through full-height windows, it feels open and breathable, with furnishings arranged to encourage conversation rather than ceremony. Sliding glass doors blur the threshold between inside and aft deck, allowing families to drift easily between shaded lounging and sunshine. A striking floating glass staircase links the decks, acting as a sculptural centrepiece and reinforcing the contemporary feel of the superyacht.

Sabai holds accommodation for up to ten guests across five staterooms, with numerous pullmans ensuring flexible sleeping arrangements well suited to families. The full-beam master suite on the main deck offers plenty of privacy, complete with generous storage and an ensuite that includes a soaking tub - a rare indulgence on a yacht this length.

Each of the staterooms maintain the same relaxed Bali-esque design as the communal spaces. Soft lighting, natural materials and considered detailing create rooms that feel calm rather than overly stylised. For younger guests, this translates into spaces that are comfortable and invite ample space to play; for adults, it provides a retreat that feels quietly luxurious after a day of lounging on the sundeck or beach club.

Sabai’s sundeck is arguably her social heart, crowned by an illuminated glass-walled jacuzzi that becomes a focal point from morning through to late evening. Surrounding sunpads invite long, lazy afternoons, while a covered bar and dining area forward ensures that meals can be enjoyed al fresco regardless of the heat of the day.

On the main aft deck, a generous dining table provides another setting for shared meals, shaded yet open to the sea breeze. This space flows naturally down to the swim platform, which becomes a hub of activity at anchor. Sabai carries an appealing selection of water toys, including SeaBobs, paddleboards and kayaks, ensuring fun for guests of all ages.

Beyond her aesthetic and layout, Sabai offers the reassurance of serious cruising capability. Built as an explorer yacht, she is designed for comfort and stability, with stabilisers that reduce motion both underway and at anchor. For families with younger children or guests new to yachting, this translates into restful nights and relaxed days, even when conditions are less than glassy.

Family charters often demand a careful balance: children seeking adventure, adults seeking tranquillity; Sabai’s crew knows how to tailor activities and create daily rhythms that suit any kind of charter guest. Whether organising a beach picnic, supervising watersports or preparing a celebratory dinner under the stars, they form the invisible framework that allows guests to simply enjoy being together.

Ultimately, chartering Sabai is less about ostentation and more about ease. Her Bali-style interiors soften the traditional boundaries of yacht design, replacing formality with warmth. Her exterior spaces invite connection with sea and sky, while her family-friendly configuration ensures that practical needs are met without compromising style.

For those seeking a yacht that feels like a floating island home and welcomes guests of all ages, Sabai offers a charter experience defined by comfort, character and the simple pleasure of time shared on the water.
