Charter onboard Feadship’s 119m flagship
Step onboard a truly history-shaping yacht – the 118.8-metre Feadship superyacht Breakthrough. Aptly named, her moniker encapsulates the profound impact she has already made on the industry. While her position as the world’s first hydrogen fuel-cell superyacht has understandably drawn global attention, this technological milestone is only one part of a far richer story.
Sold in 2019 Edmiston, who also oversaw her build, Breakthrough was conceived through an exceptionally ambitious and imaginative design. Responsible for her design in its entirety, British Design Studio RWD was challenged at every level to rethink convention. The result is a yacht that moves well beyond the traditional, from her fluid exterior lines to an interior crafted to feel refined and intimate, despite a volume exceeding 7,000 GT. To understand what truly defines Breakthrough, the team and RWD, led by Director Charlie Baker, spoke with SuperYacht Times, offering insight into the design philosophy and processes that brought this remarkable yacht to life.
At 118.8-metres, Breakthrough is Feadship’s new flagship and the largest private motor yacht by volume ever built in the Netherlands. Despite her impressive size, the yacht is exceptionally elegant, with an accentuated mast that elongates her overall aesthetic lines that flow from fore to aft in great sweeping arcs. For RWD, her scale presented an immediate design challenge: how to accommodate immense volume without visual heaviness. For the studio, the solution lay not in aggressive styling, but in form and as a result, Breakthrough’s exterior is defined by softness and flow.
“Our desire was to create something sculptural and enduring,” explains Sam Curson, Lead Exterior Designer. “A yacht that blended classic grace with contemporary refinement.” Light plays a central role in this composition. Surfaces are shaped to respond to reflections, allowing the yacht’s character to shift with the movement of the sun and sea.
An icon for charter
Guests are welcomed aboard through Breakthrough’s beach club, which is illuminated from above by the glass floor of the main deck swimming pool. Like her exterior, light from the pool plays across her surfaces, and furnishings throughout the space offer guests a variety of spaces to lounge, drink and dine. It is both a welcome area and an additional saloon of its own, with fold down terraces on both sides offering a unique connection to the water that is rarely seen.

The superyacht accommodates up to 12 guests across 15 staterooms, with the highlight being the private owner’s deck: a townhouse-style retreat spanning multiple levels, complete with two staterooms, twin bathrooms & dressing rooms, an office, a meeting room that includes a fireplace, as well as a gym and a living room that opens onto a forward Jacuzzi terrace. Remaining guest accommodation comprises up to four VIP cabins and four further double suites, which can convert into eight double cabins.
Each of Breakthrough’s decks have been conceived to elevate the charter experience, blending extraordinary amenities with thoughtfully designed spaces. One of the most versatile spaces onboard is the sundeck, ideal for lounging in the Jacuzzi, sunbathing or enjoying shaded al fresco dining.
The main deck is centred around the aft infinity pool, which stretches 8.2-metres, accompanied by a custom Jacuzzi and generous sun-lounging areas. The lower deck features an ideal dining room with a sea terrace, and at water level, folding shell doors and platforms open directly onto the sea, forming an expansive beach club ideal for lounging and entertaining. Breakthrough also features an underwater Nemo lounge, accessed from the port side of the beach club, as well as 14 balconies and seven large opening platforms which emphasise the yacht’s seamless indoor-outdoor living.
Fun on the water
As one might expect for such an iconic superyacht, Breakthrough has an unrivalled collection of toys and tenders, including kite surf equipment, jet skis, jet surf, water skis and a wakeboard. Also onboard is snorkelling equipment and diving gear, seabobs, a stand-up paddleboard and inflatable towables.
Furthermore, the yacht has custom 12-metre Vikal tender with Seakeeper stabilisers delivers swift and comfortable transfers at up to 43 knots and 16m Wajer chase tender. For those who prefer to head over via helicopter, Breakthrough has a certified touch-and-go heli deck.
Breakthrough also features a fully-equipped onboard hospital, alongside a sauna, hammam, cold plunge pool, caldarium and massage room. Also onboard is a beauty salon with hairdresser and specialist treatments.
Breakthrough is exclusively for charter with Edmiston.
A closer look at Silver Yachts’ Reduce
Currently for sale and open for viewing in Monaco is the aluminium catamaran Reduce. Delivered in 2024 by Silver Yachts, the yacht features interiors by the yard herself and exterior design and naval architecture by Espen Øino.
She has a volume of 483 GT and can cruise at a maximum speed of 24 knots, powered by four Volvo Penta engines. The catamaran has a range of 3,200 NM at a cruising speed of 18 knots. In 2025 she won the Special Jury Award at the Monaco Blue Wake Awards for her fuel efficiency, thanks to her low-resistance hull.
Reduce can accommodate up to 12 guests, supported by a crew of eight. Her spacious deck, open-floor plan and generous deck spaces all make her an excellent proposition for the charter market.
Reduce is for sale for €21.7 million.
